We're 3 friends with a real passion for the audiovisual arts (and otters).
Constantly looking for good movies to watch, books to read etc, we started thinking it would be awesome to simply ask whoever bearing the same cultural DNA; and that kind of people HAD to be out there on the Web.
Since we couldn't find a service such as the one we envisionned, we came up with deegr!

Deegr is a search engine that seeks to reference profiles (based on their tastes) rather than plain webpages. Deegr does not reference any private nor personnal data other than usernames and the ratings associated with these usernames. All data we reference has been made publicly available.
To community managers:

Terms of Use
1/ the Site
deegr (the website and the 'apps', mobile or integrated, such as the API: together the "Site"), offers its Visitors the possibility to give ratings, and to its Members the possibility to publich comments and communicate through personnal messages or publicly by writing on their "Feed" (together, the "Publications") about any element referenced on the Site.
Any person (whether a moral or a physical entity), Visitor or Member, who wishes to use the Site and its services, declares to be agreeing with the present Terms of Use (the "ToU"), as ruled by the french law and agrees that any electronical way of communication used between that person and the Site is legally viable.
2/ Registration to the Site and ToS
a) The user that wishes to use the Site's search functionnalities can freely do so; to make any Publications however, the user needs to become a Member by registering on the Site (the "Member").
An underage person cannot register on the Site without obtaining first the consent of the people legally in charge of her. In any case, deegr keeps the right to authorize underaged under 13 to use the Publishing functionnalities which are provided to the Members.
The Member agrees upon registration to provide true and precise information regarding him/herself. The Member must go through a registration form in which he agrees not to give any information that would harm any third party's rights in any way, and that are not against the public order and the commonly acknoledged rules of good behaviour.
The informations transmitted by the Member to the Site upon registration but the Site cannot be held responsible for their conservation and the confidentiality of his username and password. Therefore, whenever these are used to connect to the Site, the latter will consider that they are used by the Member who registered with these username and password, and cannot be held responsible in a case of identity theft.
b) When a future Member registers to the Site, he must tick the box stating « I agree to the Site's Terms of Use » by which he takes act and signs the contract stipulating the relations between the Member and deegr SAS. If he does not do so, his Membership will be rejected.
c) deegr cannot freely amend the ToU. In the case it modifies them, it agrees to keeping its Members informed by the means of its choice and that are at its disposal. The new ToU will then be applicable to the Member as soon as they are amended and he logs back in to the Site and its services.
If a Member does not agree with the new ToU, he will have the duty to let the Site know within 30 days by email at contact@deegr.com. The Member's account will then be indefinitely blocked for an indefinite period of time.
As long as he hasn't been informed of such activites, the Site cannot be held informed of the ToU's non-respect by a Member.
3/ Rules of conduct regarding the Publications by Members
As for the Publications made by a Member on the Site, the Member agrees, without limitations, not to publish Publications that are:
a) against the public order and the commonly acknoledged rules of good behaviour, injurious, misleading, racist, xenophobic, revisionist, pedophile, pornographic, incitating to discrimination, hatred towards a person or a group of persons because of their origin or the fact they may belong to specific ethnic origins, races, or religions, or harming any third party's honor or reputation.
b) incitating to suicide, committing a felony, a crime or an act of terrorism or talking highly of war crimes and/or against humanity.
c) not respecting a third party's rights, including intellectual property rights and ownership rights.
d) commercial, and especially not offering products nor services against any sort of remuneration.
e) displaying or even to guide, including through links towards other websites or in any other way, towards displays of people underage unless having first obtained written consent from the person's legal representant the authorization to do so and as long as it remains within the commonly acknoledged rules of good behaviour.
In the case that these rules are not followed by the Member, the Site can decide to block its access to the Member and terminate its membership.
As long as he hasn't been informed of such activites, the Site cannot be held informed of these rules' non-respect by a Member.
4/ Intellectual Property
The Member grants the Site a free international, non-exclusive and under licensable license on its Publications submitted on the Site.
5/ Protection of personnal information
a) The Site has the right create a file gathering informations submitted by its Members. These informations may be used by the Site in order to optimize the advantage the Member can take from using the Site.
The Site also keeps the right to create and use cookies to record its Members activities on the Site, in order to optimize the advantage the Member can take from using the Site.
deegr complies with the rules as stated by the law n°78-17 du 6 janvier 1978 specific to information systems, files and liberties called « Loi Informatique et Libertés ».
b) deegr can propose the submission to automated communications between the Member and the Site, that the Member can turn down is he wishes so.
c) The Member has, accordingly to the aforementioned Law, the right to access, oppose, amend and destroy the informations he has submitted, which he can use by directly contacting deegr SAS.
6/ Partnerships and advertizing
The Site can redirect towards partner websites and can also propose advertizing elements taking any form within its content and interactions between its Members.
7/ Links and linking
We are opened to many forms of publicity for our Site; the creation of links leading to the Site will be welcome. However, we do not accept in any case that these links may mislead into believing that We have been consulted or have given our consent into that linking if it hasn't specifically been agreed with our express consent. We do not authorize inline linking nor framing.
One of the Site's main functions being the redirection of our users towards external sites and under-sites other than deegr's, in the hope of optimizing the advantage the Visitor or Member can take from using the Site. These external links are not under deegr control and We cannot be held responsible for the availability and functionning of these links and the services they lead to. Deegr is neither responsible for any harmful action that its Visitors and Members may take against these links' host websites.
8/ The Site's Intellectual Property
The entirety of the Site is ruled by the french and international Laws regarding intellectual property. All rights are reserved and the express consent from deegr legal representants is compulsory for the exploitation in any way by a third party of some or all of the services and content proposed by deegr.
9/ Availability of the Site - Responsibility warranty and limitations
deegr will make the Site accessible depending on the means at its disposal, apart in the case of operations or reasons needing the Site to be shut down. In any case can the Site be held responsible for limitations to its access and subsequent consequences.
10/ French Law
These ToU are ruled by the french Law.
Only the Paris Tribunal is competent in case of a dispute relating to the interpretation and the validity of these ToU, and that onyl if an agreement as not been reach before between deegr and the Member.
